This month marks the 40th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. For many years, the ruling was considered the ultimate victory for abortion-rights activists in the United States and the crowning achievement in the fight for women’s rights and feminism in modern America. Four decades later, some believe that the abortion-rights cause is in crisis, and the pro-life movement is winning the fight over access to abortion.
In her cover story for Time Magazine, staff writer Kate Pickert writes that "the story of pro-choice activism after Roe reveals that there may be nothing worse for a political movement’s future than achieving its central goal."
